The rail passenger carrier Vivi reported a turnover of 67.3 million euros in 2025, which is 3.62% higher than in 2024. Vivi's financial results were positively impacted by improved service availability and an increase in transport volume.
In 2025, the number of passengers carried by Vivi reached a new record of 21.3 million, which is 10% more than in 2024. Net turnover also rose accordingly, reaching 67.3 million euros, while operating income reached 27 million euros, an increase of 4.31 percentage points compared to the previous year. EBITDA, meanwhile, reached 5.27 million euros, which is 3.62 percentage points higher than a year earlier, and the company’s profit reached 978,962 euros.
The growth in rail service volume is also reflected in the distance traveled by Vivi trains over the course of the year – it exceeded 7.7 million kilometers, which is 3.64% more than in 2024.
In response to growing demand, the number of trains on the Aizkraukle, Skulte, and other electrified railway lines was increased in 2025. At the same time, the number of trips on several key diesel train routes was increased, including more services to Daugavpils, Cēsis, and Valga. In collaboration with the Estonian passenger carrier Elron, service was provided using modern low-floor PESA diesel trains on the Riga–Valga route.
A survey conducted at the end of 2025 shows that 88% of Vivi passengers are satisfied with train service in Latvia. This figure has remained consistently high and is 20% higher than the public transportation sector average, where 69% of passengers are satisfied.
The appeal of trains as a form of public transportation has also been enhanced by improvements to passenger infrastructure implemented by VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš”, which has renovated platforms and created safer and more convenient access to trains. Three new stops were also introduced last year – “Dauderi” on the Skulte line, “Šmerlis” on the Sigulda line, and “Medemciems” on the Jelgava line – replacing the “Baloži” stop.
Last year, Vivi managed to improve train punctuality. It reached 98.4%, which is 1.2 percentage points higher than in 2024. Moreover, this increase was achieved despite extensive repair work on the electrified railway infrastructure on the Tukums and Jelgava lines and at Zemitāni Station, carried out by VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš”. Track access is limited on these sections, and consequently, any disruption to a single train’s movement or infrastructure operation often had a domino effect on several subsequent trips.
In 2025, Vivi continued to implement the principle of regular intervals in its train schedules, making it easier for passengers to plan their daily routines. In addition, the schedules are designed so that passengers can transfer between electric train lines at Riga Station every hour. However, the full implementation of interval scheduling and faster growth were hindered by extensive repairs to the railway infrastructure.
To expand the range of payment options available and make it easier to transfer between different modes of public transportation, the Riga Single Ticket was introduced as a pilot
project. It allows passengers to save one euro per journey when using both the services of the passenger train operator Vivi in Zone A and the transport of “Rīgas satiksme”.
The company's growth was also praised by experts from various industries. In 2025, Vivi received the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) award “Strength in Diversity”, earning bronze status in the “Employer Open to Diversity” category, as well as a letter of appreciation from the SIF for contribution to creating a family-friendly work environment. The company’s sustainable development and eco-friendly approach were recognized at the “Baltic Brand Forum”, where Vivi took 3rd place in the “Greenest Brand in Latvia” category, and for the first time made it into the TOP 100 of the fastest-growing and most resonant brands.
